Valero Texas Open Betting Preview
Players will be making their final stop on the PGA Tour in San Antonio with an event to get prepared for the Masters. In the upcoming event, golfers will compete in a challenging field at the Valero Texas Open.
Date: Apr 1–4, 2021
Course: TPC San Antonio - AT&T Oaks Course
Watch on: NBC, GOLF
The course should provide the competitors excellent opportunities to finish with low scores. In six of the last seven events, the winners have finished with a score of double digits under par for their winning total.
The fairways are rather generous, favoring golfers who are strong off the tee. However, winds regularly come into play at TPC San Antonio, so the competitors will need to prepare for gusty conditions.
The last three winners, Corey Conners, Andrew Landry, and Kevin Chappell, have all made this championship their most prized event victory when playing on the PGA Tour. You can count on them to have the most pressure to perform heading into this one.
The overall number one golfer, Dustin Johnson, has decided to sit this one out recently. Instead, he will be focusing solely on getting ready to defend his title at the Masters.
Head-to-Head Matchup to Watch
Jordan Spieth (-17.246) and Tony Finau (-17.388) are top-quality golfers who need a slight tune-up heading into Masters play. Whoever wins the Valero Texas Open will carry significant momentum to Augusta.

Golfers That Could Win
Matt Kuchar (-16.509)
Looking at the last 10 rounds of golf played at this tournament, Kuchar placed 10th as the best golfer to have gained more than a stroke per round (+1.30). He also boasts solid ball striking and even better iron play.
Abraham Ancer (-18.336)
With his quality shot placement and top-notch iron play, you would think Ancer is a sure bet. However, he will have to improve on his putting game if he wants to steal a victory here, which is still a possibility.
Potential Winning Pick
Charley Hoffman (-16.969)
Hoffman won the Valero Texas Open in 2016. He also was a runner-up twice in 2011 and again in 2019.
Looking at his recent 36 rounds, Hoffman led the field in total strokes gained and ball striking. Also, he was second in tee-to-green and putting, in addition to being third-best on off-the-tee and approach to the green.
Not only that, but Hoffman has made the last five cuts with finishes placing in the top-20's. He is a solid choice to watch here and might be able to snag another victory.
