Toronto Raptors at Los Angeles Clippers Betting Preview/Player Prop
The Toronto Raptors come into this game with a record of just 27-38, and this has not been a great season. Toronto is currently in the 11th spot in the East, but a strong finish could allow them to reach the play-in tournament.
LA has lost three straight games, and they are in danger of falling out of the fourth spot in the Western Conference. The Clippers are 43-22 on the year, and they could actually move up to third with a strong end to the year.
The LA Clippers are 9.5-point favorites over the Toronto Raptors on Tuesday night.
Lowry Leading Raptors Charge
Kyle Lowry is the clear face of the Raptors franchise, and he is not letting his team go down without a fight. Lowry had 37 points and 11 assists in a win over the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday, and he will need to be great again.
Pascal Siakam leads the team with nearly 21 points per game, and he has also been playing great basketball of late. The Raptors are dealing with a number of injuries to key players, and it’s hard for this team to score at times.
Toronto will also have to find a way to be better on the defensive end of the floor, as they have given up nearly 113 points per game. The Raptors will need to control the pace on Tuesday night to pull off the upset.
Clippers Struggling to Score
All of a sudden, the LA Clippers have had trouble scoring points, and that has been the biggest reason for their recent skid. The Clippers are averaging more than 114 points per game this season, but they have not been a great offensive team of late.
Kawhi Leonard and Paul George continue to lead the way for this team, but they are going to need some help as the season winds down. This duo has combined for more than 49 points per game, but LA needs some bench scoring to keep up with the Raptors.
The Clippers have been a great defensive team all season long, and relying on the defense could help get this season back on track. LA has also faced some great teams recently, and they are catching a break on Tuesday night.
Clippers Survive Upset Scare
Both teams desperately need a win in this game, and that should make for a highly competitive game on Tuesday night. LA has been the much better team all season long, but Toronto has been on a roll of late.
This is a great opportunity for the Clippers to snap their losing streak, but the Raptors are going to give them a tough battle for the full 48 minutes. The best bet is taking the Raptors +9.5 as they keep this game close against the LA Clippers.
Total Points + Rebounds + Assists: Marcus Morris Sr (-120) Over 19.5
A big reason behind the Clippers surge in April was the insertion of Marcus Morris Sr into the starting lineup.
Since replacing Nicolas Batum, Morris Sr has thrived while shooting nearly 49 percent on 6 three-pointers per game and over 50 percent overall. On the season, his 46.6 FG percentage and 46.7 3-Pt percentage are career highs.
Not surprisingly, the greater responsibility has also upped his stat lines across the board. He averaged 16.4 ppg in the month of April, up from 13.4 ppg in March. He also averaged 5.2 rebounds for the month compared to just 3.8 the month before.
Those numbers were off in his most recent game against the Nuggets on Saturday as he finished with just 8 points and 3 rebounds. But he picked up 3 assists, which was his highest total since recording 3 against the Pacers on April 13. This could indicate more of a facilitator role with the return of Khawi Leonard to the lineup from his foot injury.
We like Morris Sr to bounce back tonight with another productive offensive game and will balance it out by including his rebound and assist totals. Take Marcus Morris Sr (-120) to go Over 19.5 total points + rebounds + assists.
