Texas Longhorns at Kansas Jayhawks Betting Preview
Two of the best teams in the country will meet up on Saturday for a huge Big 12 Conference matchup. The 8-1 Kansas Jayhawks will host the 7-1 Texas Longhorns, and the winner of this game will take early control in the conference race.
Texas suffered a four-point loss to Villanova earlier this season, but the Longhorns have also racked up a number of quality wins. The Longhorns have struggled in Big 12 play in recent seasons, but this Texas team feels different.
Kansas has absolutely dominated the Big 12 Conference over the past decade, and the Jayhawks are loaded yet again. Kansas has won eight straight games since losing to the Gonzaga Bulldogs in the season opener.
Kansas is a 4.5-point favorite over the Texas Longhorns on Saturday.
Texas Can Really Defend
If Texas is going to win this game on the road, then it will have to be done with its defense. Texas is giving up just 62.5 points per game this season, and it won’t be shy about picking up the Jayhawks full court in this one.
Texas is scoring 74.8 points per game, and it won’t blow anyone away with its offensive talent. The Longhorns have gotten plenty of balance on offense, but they don’t have a true star.
Guard Matt Coleman III leads the team with 13.9 points and 4.5 assists per game, and he is the catalyst for this team. Forward Greg Brown has chipped in with 12.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game, and he will have his hands full against a big Kansas team.
Jayhawks Have Plenty of Weapons
Kansas is scoring nearly 80 points per game, and this team has the ability to score points in a hurry. The Jayhawks are also lacking a real superstar, but they have enough scoring threats to take control of this game.
Ochai Ogbaji and Jalen Wilson have combined for more than 29 points per game this season, and both players can score in a variety of ways. Guard Marcus Garrett is averaging less than 10 points per game, but he runs the offense and keeps things rolling for the Jayhawks.
Kansas is averaging 7.2 steals and 4.1 blocks per game, and the Jayhawks will make life difficult on the Longhorns. The Jayhawks want to speed up the tempo, but they can also get stops when needed.
Kansas Takes Care of Business
The Longhorns are off to a great start this season, but now the real work begins. Texas does look like a threat to win the Big 12 title this season, but it will have to get through Kansas first.
Bill Self has another loaded team in Kansas, and the Jayhawks are always tough to beat on their home floor. Don’t expect Kansas to blow this game out, but they will come up with enough plays late in the game to take control.
Bet the Kansas Jayhawks -4.5 over the Texas Longhorns in this Big 12 showdown.
