Tennessee Volunteers at Missouri Tigers Betting Preview
The Southeastern Conference begins play this week, and there is a big game on the schedule Wednesday night. The Missouri Tigers host the Tennessee Volunteers, and this game could play a huge role in determining the conference champion later this season.
Tennessee enters play with a perfect 6-0 record and is currently the seventh-ranked team in the country. The Volunteers have had a number of issues with COVID-19 already this season, but they appear to be ready for SEC play.
Missouri is also 6-0 in 2020, and it comes in as the No. 12 team in the country. The Tigers have had a long layoff due to COVID-19, but they were playing really good basketball just a few weeks ago.
The Tennessee Volunteers are 3.5-point road favorites over the Missouri Tigers in this SEC clash.
Tennessee Defense is Dominant
The Volunteers have been extremely tough on the defensive end of the floor this season, and that will need to continue on Wednesday night. The Volunteers are holding opponents to just 52.7 points per game, but Missouri will be the best team they have faced.
Tennessee doesn’t really have a true star on this roster, but they have plenty of depth. There are four different players averaging in double-figures, and the Volunteers have been getting offense in a variety of ways.
Guard Victor Bailey Jr. leads the team with 13.2 points per game, and he can really shoot it. Forward John Fulkerson has pitched in with 11.8 points per game, and he will anchor the paint on Wednesday night.
Missouri Has Plenty of Weapons
Missouri was unranked to begin the season, but wins over Oregon and Illinois have put the country on notice. The Tigers are a very veteran group, and that unit knows how to navigate through a challenging and difficult SEC schedule.
The Tigers are scoring 75 points per game this season while only allowing 65.3. Missouri is not afraid to play at a fast tempo, but it must be able to make shots on Wednesday to keep this game close.
A trio of guards leads the way for Missouri, and that group has combined for more than 40 points per game. On the inside, Jeremiah Tilmon leads the team with 8.2 points and 7.8 rebounds per game.
Tennessee Wins SEC Showdown
Both of these teams have not played in a long time, and there will likely be some rust for both Tennessee and Missouri. This was not going to be a high-scoring game to begin with, but poor shooting could keep this game in the 60s.
Missouri has one of the most experienced teams in the country, but Tennessee has one of the most talented. That talent is eventually going to take over in the second half, and that will allow the Volunteers to pick up a huge win on the road.
Take the Tennessee Volunteers -3.5 over the Missouri Tigers in this SEC showdown of undefeated teams.
