St. Louis Blues at Vegas Golden Knights Betting Preview

26 January 2021

Former Blues captain Alex Pietrangelo leads Vegas against his former club.

Two of the top teams in the National Hockey League will meet up on Tuesday night for a major West Division showdown. The Vegas Golden Knights will host the St. Louis Blues, potentially a playoff preview.

St. Louis enters play on Tuesday night with seven points on the season (3-2-1) to sit in third place in the West Division. The Blues have struggled to find consistency this season, and that has to change as the season goes along.

Vegas leads the West Division with 10 points (5-1-0) through the first six games, and they look ready to have a monster season. They are tied with Toronto and Montreal for the league lead in points.

The Golden Knights (-156) are favorites over the Blues (+133) on Tuesday night.

Blues Looking For Offense

The Blues are scoring just 2.22 goals per game, and they need to find more offense if they want to get on a roll. St. Louis is holding opponents to 2.78 goals per game, but they can’t continue to win with that formula.

Center Jordan Kyrou leads the team with four assists and six points, and he has done a great job of setting up his teammates so far this season. Brayden Schenn leads the team with four goals, and he is off to the best start of his career.

Goaltender Jordan Binnington has stopped more than 92 percent of the shots he has faced this season, and he does a great job of keeping the Blues in each game. St. Louis will need to be solid on the defensive end to control the Golden Knights.

Golden Knights Getting Great Goaltending

The Golden Knights have one of the best goaltender tandems in the league, which has allowed the team to take some chances on the offensive end of the ice. Vegas is giving up just two goals per game, and Marc-André Fleury and Robin Lehner have both been on top of their game.

This Vegas team is also loaded with offensive talent, and they are scoring close to 3.2 goals per game. Mark Stone leads the team with six assists and eight total points, but all four lines are contributing.

Former Blues captain Alex Pietrangelo signed with Vegas in free agency and will play his first game against his former club Tuesday.

Vegas will look to speed this game up and create some scoring opportunities on the counterattack against the Blues.

Golden Knights Cruise to Victory

The Blues have the potential to be a Stanley Cup contender this season, but they have not played well enough to begin the year. There is no doubt that the Blues will be locked in for this game, but they might not have what it takes to keep up with Vegas.

The Golden Knights are loaded with weapons on the offensive end of the ice, and they have a dynamic duo in the blue paint. Vegas doesn’t give up many chances to opponents, and they create plenty of scoring chances of their own.

This game will go the right way for the home team, and the Blues will get blown out. Take the Vegas Golden Knights -1.5 over the St. Louis Blues on Tuesday night.

Free Pick: Vegas Golden Knights (-156).
