San Antonio Spurs at Phoenix Suns Betting Preview

NBA Previews

The Phoenix Suns host the San Antonio Spurs Saturday in a very important game for each team. Phoenix is trying to wrap up the Pacific Division title while San Antonio can still make a run in the Southwest Division.

The Spurs come into this game having lost two straight and seven of their last nine. This is the worst time of the year to be going through a slump, but San Antonio still has time to get back on track.

Phoenix has won four straight games, and they have only lost one time in the last three weeks. The Suns bring a 40-15 record into this game, and they currently have a 2.5-game lead in a very tough Pacific Division.

The Phoenix Suns are nine-point favorites over the San Antonio Spurs in this Western Conference matchup.

Spurs Must Slow it Down

The San Antonio Spurs must find a way to slow down the pace on Saturday night if they plan on giving the Suns a game. San Antonio is scoring just 110.6 points per game while giving up nearly the same amount.

DeMar DeRozan continues to do nearly everything to lead this Spurs team, putting up 21.2 points and 7.2 assists per game. San Antonio has some other solid pieces, but DeRozan is the only one capable of taking over a game.

The Spurs are shooting close to 36 percent from the three-point line, and they will seek out a great shot opportunity on each possession. San Antonio does some things well, but they also lack the depth needed to win games.

Phoenix Can Really Score

The Phoenix Suns are putting up 115 points per game, making them the fifth-highest scoring team in the league. Devin Booker leads this team with 25.7 points per game, but there are other offensive weapons on this roster.

Center Deandre Ayton is shooting nearly 63 percent from the floor, and he is also an elite rim protector. The Suns are shooting 38 percent from deep, and they can light it up at any time.

Phoenix has also been a terrific defensive team, holding opponents to just 107.4 points per game. The Suns have the ability to put up a low number in this game, especially with Ayton protecting the rim.

Spurs Battle, Suns Win

Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich always seems to come up with a game plan to give his team a chance to be successful. San Antonio doesn’t have the weapons to keep up with the Suns, but the Spurs should be able to slow this game down.

Phoenix has been doing everything right over the last month or so, and this team is ready to make a deep run in the NBA Playoffs. The Suns will need to make shots in this game, but they just have too many weapons to lose to a struggling Spurs team.

Playing at home will give the Suns all the boost they need, but it’s not going to come easy. Take the nine points in this game and bet on the San Antonio Spurs as they keep it close in defeat.
