Philadelphia Flyers at Boston Bruins Betting Preview

NHL Previews

Two longtime NHL rivals are set to meet up in Boston on Thursday night when the Bruins host the Philadelphia Flyers. Both of these teams are expected to be Stanley Cup title contenders this season, and this should be a terrific battle.

Philadelphia enters this game with a 3-1 record on the season, and they lead the East Division with six points. The Flyers won two straight over the Pittsburgh Penguins to begin the season and then split a two-game set with the Buffalo Sabres.

The Boston Bruins picked up a 3-2 win in their season opener, but they have lost two straight games since that time. Boston has just three points through their first three games and will be looking to make up ground in the division race.

The Boston Bruins are -140 over the Philadelphia Flyers.

Flyers Finding Some Offense

The Philadelphia Flyers have been a great offensive team to start the 2021 season, which has allowed them to stack up some wins. Philadelphia is scoring 3.75 goals per game, but they will be facing a tough challenge in this one.

Right winger Travis Konecny leads the Flyers with four goals and six total points to begin the season. Center Kevin Hayes has helped the offense by leading the team with three assists, and the Flyers have gotten great play from all of the lines.

Goaltenders Carter Hart and Brian Elliott have combined to give up just 11 goals through four games, and they are stopping close to 93 percent of all shots faced. Philadelphia has struggled a bit on special teams to begin the season, and that will be a point of emphasis in this matchup.

Bruins Remain Tough on Defense

The Boston Bruins have been great at limiting scoring opportunities for opponents over the last few seasons, and they are doing the same this season. Boston is giving up just 1.67 goals against per game, and they will look to slow down a red-hot Flyers team.

Boston has struggled to put pucks into the back of the net this year, and that will need to improve as the season moves along. The Bruins have scored just three total goals this season and were shut out last game.

Brad Marchand leads the team with one goal and two assists, but the Bruins need some more players to step up in this matchup. Boston has killed off all of their penalties this season, but scoring is a big issue.

Boston Bounces Back

The Boston Bruins will find their offense at some point this season, and this will be the game to turn things around. Philadelphia wants to play fast, and that will give Boston a chance to score some goals.

The Bruins continue to make things difficult for opponents, and the Flyers will struggle in this game. Boston will not only win this hockey game, but they will also win by at least two goals.

Bet the Boston Bruins -1.5 over the Philadelphia Flyers on Thursday night.
