NBA Finals Game 3 Betting Preview: Phoenix Suns at Milwaukee Bucks/Player Prop
Phoenix has lost just four games during this entire playoff run, and they look like they are on the verge of winning an NBA Championship. The Suns must now prove that they can win games on the road, and things will be more challenging on Sunday.
The Milwaukee Bucks have been down 0-2 in a series before, and they simply must find a way to pick up a win at home. Milwaukee will have an advantage of playing in front of a loud and raucous Bucks crowd on Sunday.
The Milwaukee Bucks are 4.5-point favorites in Game 3 of the NBA Finals.
Guards Guiding Phoenix
Chris Paul and Devin Booker continue to lead the Suns, and the Bucks haven’t been able to find a way to slow these players down. Booker is closing in on setting the all-time record for most points during a first playoff run.
The Suns have scored 118 points in each of the first two games of this series, and this team can heat up quickly from the three-point line. Booker leads the team with 27 points per game, but several players have been stepping up.
Phoenix was also the third-best defensive team in the league this season, and that defense has been able to frustrate the Milwaukee Bucks.
Bucks Must Get Stops
Milwaukee is not going to win many games if they continue to give up close to 120 points per game. The Bucks were the highest-scoring team in the league this season, but it’s going to take defense to win this one.
Giannis Anteotokounmpo is averaging 28.5 points and 12.9 rebounds per game this postseason, and he did all he could in Game 2. The Bucks are going to continue riding their superstar, but they also have to give him some help.
Milwaukee is shooting just 31 percent from the three-point line, and they must make shots in this game.
Bucks Bounce Back
Trying to pick up a win in Phoenix is extremely difficult, but the Bucks will now have their own chance to defend home court. Milwaukee is going to have to play exceptionally well, but they have the talent on this roster to get it done.
Devin Booker and Chris Paul continue to put up big numbers for the Suns, and the Bucks have to find a way to slow those players down. Milwaukee will likely attempt to push the tempo on Sunday night, and they usually do this very well at home.
The Bucks are going to be playing a desperate brand of basketball on Sunday night, and they will find a way to get this win. Bet the Milwaukee Bucks -4.5 as they are able to pick up a win to make this series interesting.
Jrue Holiday (-145) Over 7.5 Assists
Outside of Giannis Antetokounmpo, Milwaukee’s offense has sputtered in the first two games of the Finals. Much of the attention has been focused on the play of Holiday.
The 31-year-old point guard had only 10 points on 4-of-14 shooting in Game 1 and wasn’t much better in Game 2 with 17 points on 7-of-21 shooting. By contrast, the Suns starting backcourt of Devin Booker and Chris Paul have combined for 113 points, the most through two games by starting guards since 1971.
But while Holiday’s shooting has been streaky all postseason long, he has still found a way to distribute the ball. After finishing with a 6.1 apg in the regular season, Holiday has upped that average to 8.4 apg in the playoffs. That included a 9.8 apg in the first round series against Miami and 10.0 apg in the conference finals against Atlanta.
As the Bucks look to break through in the series with their first victory tonight, we expect the Milwaukee PG to get the Milwaukee offense behind Giannis and Middleton going early. We’ll take Holiday (-145) to go over 7.5 assists in Game 3.
