Milwaukee Bucks at Phoenix Suns Game 5 Betting Preview/Player Prop

NBA Previews

The 2021 NBA Finals has been one of the most competitive in recent memory, and it’s now just a race to two wins. The Phoenix Suns will host the Milwaukee Bucks for Game 5, and the winner will take a 3-2 series lead.

Milwaukee was not really competitive in the first two games of this series, and they quickly fell into an 0-2 series hole. The Bucks have battled through adversity all season long, and they took control in Games 3 and 4.

Phoenix was riding high heading into Milwaukee, but the Suns lost all of that moment over the last two games. The Suns have been the most dominant team throughout the postseason, and they have the ability to catch fire in a hurry.

The Phoenix Suns are four-point favorites at home against the Milwaukee Bucks in Game 5 on Saturday night.

Stars Leading Bucks Charge

The Milwaukee Bucks lean heavily on their starting lineup, and they have a pair of superstars leading the way. Giannis Antetokounmpo and Khris Middleton just won’t let this team go down without a fight, and both put up classic performances in Milwaukee.

Antetokounmpo is averaging 29.1 points and 12.9 rebounds per game, and he had the game-saving defensive play in Game 4. Middleton poured in 40 points on Wednesday night, and he can take over a game when needed.

Milwaukee still needs to find a way to shoot the ball better from deep if they are going to find a way to win in Phoenix.

Paul Needs to Lead Phoenix

Chris Paul did not look like himself in the two games in Milwaukee, and that is a cause for concern for the Suns. Phoenix doesn’t need Paul to put up a ton of points, but he needs to set the tone on offense.

Devin Booker leads the Suns with 27 points per game, and he also put up 40 points in the Game 4 loss. Booker and Deandre Ayton will do some damage on offense, but the Suns must also get some stops.

Phoenix was one of the best defensive teams in the NBA this season, and they need to lean on that in Game 5. The Suns don’t want to get into a fast-paced style of play as that favors Milwaukee.

Suns Too Tough at Home

Despite losing the previous two games in this series, the Phoenix Suns are still the more complete team in the NBA Finals. The Suns are also extremely tough to beat in Phoenix, and the home crowd is going to have an effect in this game.

Look for the Suns to play much better defensively on Saturday night as they find a way to slow down the stars for Milwaukee, The Bucks don’t have the bench scoring to keep up, and the Suns will take advantage in Game 5.

Chris Paul will lead the Suns to a comfortable win as the Suns take a 3-2 series lead. Bet the Phoenix Suns -4.0 as they win this game by at least eight points.

Player Prop

Chris Paul (-127) Over 8.5 Assists

Following an uncharacteristically bad Game 4 from Paul (10 points, 5 turnovers), the Suns point guard said he was not “dwelling” on the performance and head coach Monty Williams called it “a blip” in his HOF career.

And there’s good reason to think Paul will bounce back strong tonight in Game 5. For one, the venue shifts back to Phoenix, where he averaged 27.5 points and 9.5 assists in the first two games of the Finals. As a team, the Suns averaged 117 points at home compared to only 101.5 in the two games in Milwaukee.

Secondly, even with all the miscues from CP3, he still managed to record 7 assists on Wednesday night. While his scoring has fluctuated in the postseason, he has continued to find ways to distribute the ball, averaging 10.3 assists in the conference semis against Denver and 8.8 in the conference finals against the Clippers. The resurgence of Devin Booker (42 points in Game 4) on the offensive end should help boost his assist number as well.

In the pivotal Game 5 in Phoenix, we’ll take Paul (-127) to bounce back from his struggles in Game 4 and go over 8.5 assists tonight.
