Los Angeles Rams at Green Bay Packers Betting Preview
There are just eight teams remaining in the NFL Playoffs, and that number will be reduced to just four by the end of the weekend. The Green Bay Packers host the Los Angeles Rams in the first game of the weekend on Saturday afternoon at Lambeau Field.
The Rams went into Seattle and stunned the Seahawks in the Wild Card round, and they have plenty of momentum. Los Angeles is dealing with some injuries on both sides of the ball, but it has been a strong team in the playoffs.
Green Bay earned the top overall seed in the NFC after finishing the regular season with a record of 13-3. The Packers had a chance to rest up during the Wild Card round, and they are never easy to deal with in Green Bay.
The Green Bay Packers are 7.5-point favorites over the Los Angeles Rams on Saturday afternoon.
Defense Leading Rams Charge
The Rams allowed just 18.5 points per game during the regular season, and that unit dominated the Seattle Seahawks a week ago. Los Angeles will need to keep this to a low-scoring affair if they want any chance of upsetting the Packers.
Aaron Donald and Leonard Floyd combined for four sacks against the Seahawks, and they will need to get pressure on Aaron Rodgers. Donald did leave that game with an injury, but he is expected to suit up for this game.
Quarterback Jared Goff is also dealing with a broken thumb, and that will likely slow down the offense for the Rams. Running back Cam Akers had 131 rushing yards in that win, and he will need to be great again.
Packers Feature Explosive Offense
The Packers averaged 31.8 points per game during the regular season, and they are capable of lighting up the scoreboard. Green Bay did allow over 23 points per game, but this team wants to win games with the offense.
Rodgers threw for 4,299 yards and 48 touchdowns this season, and he is likely the league MVP. Wide receiver Davante Adams did not even play a full season but still racked up 1,374 receiving yards and 18 touchdowns.
Stopping the run could present a challenge to Green Bay on Saturday, but the defense just needs to keep the Rams in the 20s. Green Bay does have some solid pass rushers, and they can create problems for Goff.
Rams Keep it Close in Loss
The Rams defense is good enough to slow down the Packers, and it will allow them to keep this game close. The Rams don’t have enough offense to pull off this upset, but they present a strong challenge to the Packers.
Rodgers is simply too good, and he is not going to let his team lose this game. The Packers will find just enough offense late, and they will take control of this playoff game in the fourth quarter.
The Rams will keep this to a one-score game, but it will be the Packers that are moving on.
Take the Los Angeles Rams +7.5 over the Green Bay Packers in this NFC Divisional Round Playoff Game.
