LA Clippers at Los Angeles Lakers Betting Preview
The 2020-21 NBA season is finally here, and these games will not be played in a bubble. One of the games set to take place on Opening Night is a showdown between the Los Angeles Clippers and the Los Angeles Lakers at Staples Center.
The Lakers are the defending NBA champions, and they have all of the important pieces back for another run. The Lakers are the clear favorites to win the title again this season, but there is a lot that can happen before then.
The Clippers are looking for redemption after failing to reach the Western Conference Finals a season ago. Los Angeles has reloaded, and this team still has two of the best players in the league.
The Los Angeles Lakers are 2.5-point favorites over the Los Angeles Clippers on Tuesday night.
Clippers Being Led By Lue
Doc Rivers is out as head coach for the Clippers, and Ty Lue has taken over the reins. Lue has won an NBA championship as a head coach with Cleveland, and he has inherited a terrific roster this season.
Former NBA Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard led the Clippers with 27 points a season ago, and he is one of the best two-way players in the league. Leonard will be looking to get off to a good start after falling short a season ago.
Paul George averaged more than 21 points per game in 2019-20, but he struggled to shoot in the playoffs. The Clippers will have to shoot the ball well to beat the Lakers in this game.
Depth is also going to play a role in this game, and the Clippers have tons of talent. This team is set to have a huge season.
Dynamic Duo Set to Lead Lakers
LeBron James and Anthony Davis are both back with the Los Angeles Lakers, and they are back to lead the team. James and Davis both averaged more than 25 points per game a season ago, and they do almost everything for this team.
Three-point shooting has been a concern for the Lakers at times, but this team has improved the roster heading into this season. Kyle Kuzma will once again play a huge role as a potential third scoring option.
The Lakers don’t have many holes, and their two stars can cover for any that they do have. It will take a special effort to knock them off their throne this season.
Clippers Win Season Opener
The Los Angeles Lakers will have a ceremony prior to the game to celebrate last season’s championship, and that could distract the defending champions. This has been an issue for teams in the past, and it will also make the LA Clippers hungry for revenge.
Both the Clippers and Lakers are championship contenders again this season, and these matchups are must-see television. The Clippers will be more focused in this game, and it should allow them to take control.
Expect this game to be close throughout, but the Lakers don’t have anything to play for yet. Bet the Clippers over the Lakers in the NBA season opener on Tuesday night.
