Indianapolis Colts at Buffalo Bills Betting Preview
The NFL Wild Card Round begins on Saturday, and things get started with a matchup of AFC powerhouse teams. The 13-3 Buffalo Bills are set to host the 11-5 Indianapolis Colts in what should be a great game to start the playoffs.
Indianapolis has won four of its last five games, and it needed those wins to earn the final Wild Card spot in the AFC. The Colts outscored their opponents by nearly 90 points this season and had a great final month.
Buffalo finished the regular season with a ton of momentum en route to an AFC East title and the number two overall seed. The Bills have won six straight, and several of those were in dominating fashion.
The Buffalo Bills are seven-point favorites over the Indianapolis Colts.
Colts Need to Run
If the Colts are going to come away with a win on Saturday, they are going to have to run the football. The Colts did average 125 rushing yards per game during the regular season, and a similar performance is needed.
Rookie running back Jonathan Taylor leads the team with 1,169 rushing yards, and that came after a very slow start to the season. Quarterback Philip Rivers has thrown for over 4,100 yards, but the Colts aren’t going to win this game by throwing the football.
The defense in Indianapolis has also been solid this season, holding opponents to just 22.6 points per game. Linebacker Darius Leonard leads that unit, and they are facing a tough test in Buffalo.
Bills Led By Allen
Bills quarterback Josh Allen had the best season of his career in 2020, and the Bills have turned into an explosive offensive team. Buffalo is averaging more than 30 points per game, and it just scored 56 in the regular-season finale.
Allen threw for 4,544 yards and 37 touchdowns, and he can also make plays with his legs. Wide receiver Stefon Diggs leads the NFL with 127 catches for 1,535 yards. That passing attack has proven tough to stop all season.
The Bills defense has allowed just over 23 points per game, but that unit is trending in the right direction. Buffalo has not allowed more than 26 points in each of their last six contests.
Bills Bounce Colts in Close Game
The Bills are going to find a way to win this game on their home field, but don’t expect it to be a blowout. Indianapolis is too good of a defensive team to allow the Bills to blow this game open.
In the end, Allen and that offense will find a way to score just enough points to push the Bills past the Colts. Indianapolis will put up a great fight, but its season will come to an end on Saturday afternoon in Buffalo.
Take the seven points and bet on the Indianapolis Colts against the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Wild Card Round.
