NHL Previews

The Florida Panthers and the Carolina Hurricanes face off in this Central Division matchup between two possible Stanley Cup contenders both having terrific seasons thusfar.

A pair of Central Division rivals will meet up on Wednesday afternoon for a terrific matchup in the National Hockey League. Both teams are Stanley Cup title contenders this season, and both teams are playing well.

Florida comes into this game with 20 points, and they have gone 9-2-2 this season. The Panthers have won three of their last four games, and they have done so in commanding fashion.

Carolina has won eight of their last 10 games, and they are 10-3-0 so far this season. The Hurricanes were a popular Stanley Cup title pick before the season, and they are now living up to the hype.

The Carolina Hurricanes are -160 in this matchup with the Florida Panthers.

Panthers Not Allowing Goals

The Florida Panthers are allowing 2.85 goals against this season, but they have been much better on that end of the ice of late. Florida has given up just eight total goals in their last two victories, and two of those wins were against the explosive Tampa Bay Lightning.

Florida has played three different goalies in net this season, and all three of them have played extremely well. The Panthers are stopping close to 91 percent of shots faced, and the penalty kill has also performed well.

Florida is scoring just 3.05 points per game, but this team has plenty of solid offensive options. Jonathan Huberdeau leads the way with 12 assists and 17 points this season, and he has really paced the Panthers on offense.

Hurricanes Exploding on Offense

The Carolina Hurricanes were expected to be one of the best offensive teams in the NHL, and that has happened in the last few weeks. Carolina is now scoring 3.44 goals per game, and that total continues to climb.

Brock McGinn leads the team with seven goals, and Sebastian Aho leads the way with nine assists. The Hurricanes have also converted on 25 percent of their attempts on the power play, and they are great with the man advantage.

Carolina has held teams to just 2.83 goals per game, but they have been a little leaky of late. The Hurricanes have won three straight games, but they have given up a total of nine goals in those three games.

The Hurricanes won’t mind getting into a high-scoring game against the Panthers on Wednesday afternoon.

Panthers Simply Too Solid

Both of these teams have gotten off to great starts this season, and each team can really score. Florida has been the much better team of late, and the Panthers are a tough matchup for any team.

Don’t expect a ton of separation in this game, and this could likely be a game that is decided in overtime or in a shootout. Carolina will play well on Wednesday afternoon, but it will be the Florida Panthers that are able to come away with a late goal and the victory.

Bet the Florida Panthers over the Carolina Hurricanes in this huge Central Division showdown on Wednesday afternoon.
