Edmonton Oilers at Winnipeg Jets Betting Preview

17 April 2021

The Edmonton Oilers travel to Winnipeg on Saturday night for a matchup with the Jets. Both teams are going to make the playoffs in the North Division, and this will likely be a first-round playoff matchup.

Edmonton comes into this game with 52 points on the season, and they are currently in third place in the North. The Oilers have gone just 3-3 in their last six games, and they are looking to build some momentum for the playoffs.

Winnipeg has won five of their last six games, and this team comes into this matchup with plenty of momentum. The Jets now have 57 points on the season, and they are just three points behind the Maple Leafs for first place in the North.

The Winnipeg Jets are -125 in this showdown with Edmonton on Saturday night.

Dynamic Duo Leading Oilers

Edmonton has two of the best players in the NHL on its roster, and they are a hard team to stop. Connor McDavid leads the team with 23 goals and 46 assists, but Leon Draisaitl is capable of taking over a game as well.

The Oilers are scoring 3.1 goals per game, but they are also giving up 2.8 goals per night. This team wants to play extremely fast, but that sometimes leads to great scoring chances for their opponents.

Edmonton has killed off just 79 percent of their penalties this season, and they can’t afford to commit many penalties against this Winnipeg team.

Winnipeg Great on Special Teams

The Winnipeg Jets have converted on 26 percent of their attempts on the power play, and they are deadly with the man advantage. Winnipeg has also been terrific on the penalty kill, being successful more than 81 percent of the time.

Center Mark Scheifele leads this team with 35 assists and 52 total points, and he will be a key to get the offense going. Kyle Connor has registered a team-high 21 goals and has been trending in the right direction of late.

The Jets don’t want to play as fast as the Oilers do, but Winnipeg is a team that is looking for scoring chances.

Jets Win Big Over Rival

Both of these teams want to score goals, and that should lead to a wide-open style of hockey being played on Saturday. Eventually, one team is going to find a way to get some stops, and Winnipeg has been slightly better on the defensive end of late.

The Jets are going to throw extra defenders at the two Oilers stars, and that should allow them to take control. This is going to be a show, but playing at Winnipeg is a big advantage for the Jets.

These teams will both be focused and ready for this showdown, but it will be the home team that is able to take control. Winnipeg is going to win this game by two goals, and making a bet on the Jets -1.5 is the right pick for this matchup with the Edmonton Oilers.
