Colorado Avalanche at Arizona Coyotes Betting Preview/Player Prop

NHL Previews

The Arizona Coyotes will host the Colorado Avalanche again on Tuesday night, and the home team is looking for a much different result than the first meeting. Colorado came away with a dominating 5-1 victory, and this is a matchup of two teams heading in opposite directions.

Colorado has now won seven straight hockey games, and they come into this game with 42 points on the season. The Avalanche are still in second place in the West, but they are hot on the trail of the Vegas Golden Knights.

Arizona comes into this game having lost six of their last seven, and they are headed in the wrong direction. The Coyotes have just 31 points on the season and are falling out of the playoff race in the West.

The Colorado Avalanche are -222 in this matchup with the Arizona Coyotes on Tuesday night.

Colorado Clicking on Offensive End

Few teams have as many offensive weapons as the Colorado Avalanche, and this team is clicking at just the right time. Colorado comes into this game averaging 3.4 goals per game, and they could be in for another big night on Tuesday.

Mikko Rantanen leads the team with 18 goals and 36 total points this season, while Nathan MacKinnon leads the way with 23 assists. Colorado has dealt with some adversity this season, but all is well with the Avalanche at this time.

Colorado is giving up just 2.2 goals per game, making this team even more difficult to defeat. With few weaknesses on the Avalanche roster, it’s clear to see why the Avalanche are a Stanley Cup title contender.

Arizona Allowing Too Many Goals

The stats will show that the Coyotes are giving up less than three goals per game, which should be good enough to win on most nights. Arizona has been giving up more goals than that during this rough stretch, and they don’t have the offensive skills to overcome that.

Arizona is scoring just 2.38 goals per game and has scored just 10 total goals in their last seven games. Keeping up with the Colorado Avalanche is hard enough, but it makes it even tougher when you can’t score goals.

Conor Garland has been a solid performer for the Coyotes, leaving the team with 16 assists and 25 total points. Arizona is going to have to find more offensive threats if they want to make a late-season charge.

Avalanche Roll Over Coyotes

Colorado is one of the most explosive hockey teams in the league, while the Arizona Coyotes struggle to score. Add in the fact that the Avalanche are also not allowing many goals, and you have all the makings of a blowout on Tuesday night.

Colorado is on an absolute tear right now, and it is hard to see the Arizona Coyotes keeping this one close. These two teams have built up a nice rivalry over the years, but this matchup will be all Avalanche.

Bet on the Colorado Avalanche -1.5 over the Arizona Coyotes in this West Division showdown on Tuesday night.

Player Prop

Mikko Rantanen (-150) Over 2.5 Shots

The Avs 7-game winning streak has been powered in large part by the play of winger Mikko Rantanen. Over that stretch, Rantanen has goals in 5 of the contests and picked up a pair in a March 18 win over the Wild. The prolific streak has moved the 3rd-year pro up to 3rd in the league in goals (18) and 9th in points (36).

As a result, Colorado is looking for the 24-year-old to consistently put the puck on net. Over his last 6 games, Rantanen has averaged 4 shots per game and has hit that number in each of his last two, including Monday night’s 5-1 win over the Coyotes.

Facing Arizona again tonight, we look for Rantanen to continue to be a key to Colorado’s offense. Take Mikko Rantanen (-150) to go Over 2.5 shots.
