Chicago Bears at New Orleans Saints Betting Preview
The Chicago Bears will travel to New Orleans to take on the Saints in an NFC Wild Card Round playoff game on Sunday. This is a rematch of a regular-season game that was played in Chicago, and it was the Saints that came away with a win in that game in overtime.
The Bears finished the season with an 8-8 record to earn the final Wild Card spot in the NFC. Chicago was able to win three of its final four games, but the Bears are still looking for answers on both sides of the ball.
New Orleans won the NFC South this season with a 12-4 record to earn the number two overall seed in the NFC. The Saints have now won two straight games, and they are always dangerous come playoff time.
The New Orleans Saints are 9.5-point favorites over the Chicago Bears.
Bears Struggle to Score
The Bears are scoring just 23.3 points per game this season while giving up 23.1 per game. There is a reason that this team is right at the .500 mark as the offense simply puts too much pressure on the defense.
Running back David Montgomery has been a star of late, and he will need to carry the load in this game. Montgomery has rushed for over 1,000 yards this season, and the Bears will need to string together some long drives.
Khalil Mack and Akiem Hicks will be important members of the defense on Sunday, but that unit could also take over the game. Chicago is not going to win this game in a shootout, but the defense can keep it close.
Saints Offense Getting Healthy
The Saints are expected to get running back Alvin Kamara and wide receiver Michael Thomas back for this game. That spells bad news for the Bears and should improve a Saints offense that put up 30 points per game.
Kamara rushed 932 yards and 16 touchdowns this season, and he is also their leading receiver. Getting Thomas back onto the field will transform this passing attack and should make this offense nearly impossible to stop.
The Saints also feature a dominant defense that is holding teams to just 21.1 points per game. New Orleans will be without a key pass rusher in defensive end Trey Hendrickson (13.5 sacks), but the defense still won’t have much trouble on Sunday.
Saints March On to Divisional Round
There will be some very competitive NFL games taking place this weekend, but this game will not be one of them. New Orleans is getting healthy at just the right time, and the Bears just won’t be able to keep up.
The Saints have been on a roll of late, and they are set to go on a long playoff run this season. Chicago was able to back into the playoffs, but they will be making a quick exit on Sunday.
New Orleans will win this game in a blowout, and the best bet is to take the Saints -9.5 over the Chicago Bears.
