CFP Betting Preview: Ohio State Buckeyes vs. Alabama Crimson Tide

NCAA FBS Previews

The College Football Playoff Championship Game is set for Monday, and two of the best programs in the country will meet up. The Alabama Crimson Tide will take on the Ohio State Buckeyes in a battle of two of the best offenses in the country.

Alabama is a perfect 12-0 so far this season, and they are the champions of the Southeastern Conference. The Crimson Tide defeated the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the CFP semifinals.

Ohio State won the Big Ten Conference this season, and they enter this game with a 7-0 record. The Buckeyes upset the Clemson Tigers in the semifinals with a dominating and convincing 49-28 win.

The Alabama Crimson Tide are seven-point favorites over the Ohio State Buckeyes in the title game.

Ohio State Needs to Score

If the Ohio State Buckeyes are going to win this game, they will need to score the way they did against Clemson. Ohio State has allowed 21 points per game this season, and that defense will have a difficult time trying to shut down Alabama.

Quarterback Justin Fields threw for six touchdowns against Clemson, and he won’t be afraid to throw the ball deep in this game. Fields can also run with the football, and that will be a huge key in this game as he looks to escape pressure.

Running back Trey Sermon has been nearly unstoppable of late, and he will have to find holes in the tough Alabama defense. Ohio State will try to turn this game into a shootout, but they can’t settle for field goals.

Bama Solid on Both Sides

The Alabama Crimson Tide have outscored opponents by nearly 30 points per game this season, and there aren’t many holes on this roster. The offense gets most of the credit, but the Alabama defense is holding opponents to less than 20 points per game.

On offense, it has been the combination of quarterback Mac Jones and wide receiver DeVonta Smith that has done the most damage. Jones has thrown for over 4,000 yards this season, and Smith has racked up 20 receiving touchdowns to win the Heisman Trophy.

Wide receiver Jaylen Waddle could also suit up for this game, giving the Crimson Tide another terrific weapon on the outside. Alabama has been nearly unstoppable all season long, and that won’t change on Monday night.

Bama Wins Close Game

The Crimson Tide have had little trouble all season long, but Ohio State will give them a real challenge. The Buckeyes blew out the Clemson Tigers in the CFP Semifinal, and this team comes in with a ton of momentum.

Ultimately, Alabama will find a way to win this game and stay perfect on the season, but it won’t be easy. This game will not be a rout, but it will be the Crimson Tide that wins another College Football Playoff Championship.

Alabama will be able to run up the score, and their defense will do enough to slow down the Buckeyes and come away with the win.

FREE PICK: Alabama Crimson Tide (-7).
