Brooklyn Nets at Cleveland Cavaliers Betting Preview

20 January 2021

The Cleveland Cavaliers host the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday night in an intriguing NBA matchup. The Nets are one of the most talked-about teams in the league, but it has been the Cavaliers that have been a pleasant surprise this season.

Brooklyn enters this game with a record of 9-6, and it is currently in third place in the Atlantic Division. The Nets have won four straight games, and they have the look of a team that is about to go on a long winning streak.

Cleveland is 6-7 so far this season, and they are in third place in the Central Division. The Cavaliers have had some rough seasons since LeBron James left the team, but they could be a playoff contender this year.

The Brooklyn Nets are 9.5-point favorites over the Cleveland Cavaliers in this game.

Nets Set to Begin 'Big Three' Era

The Nets are expected to have their three superstars on the court for the first time on Wednesday night as Kyrie Irving has made his return. Irving will join Kevin Durant and James Harden, and the latest version of the "Big Three" will be unveiled in Brooklyn.

Durant and Harden were able to lead the Nets over the Milwaukee Bucks in their previous game, and this offense should be almost impossible to stop the rest of the way. Brooklyn is already averaging 119 points per game, and that number should increase.

Brooklyn is allowing 113 points per game, and depth will be an issue for this team. The Nets are hoping that the three superstars will be good enough to push this team past the competition each night.

Cavaliers Winning With Defense

The Cavaliers are not a great offensive team, but they can really defend. Cleveland is holding opponents to just 103.9 points per game, but that defense will be tested in a big way on Wednesday night.

Center Andre Drummond has been the best offensive performer for the Cavaliers, averaging more than 19 points per game. Point guard Collin Sexton is shooting better than 53 percent from the field, but he'll be out for this game as the Cavaliers struggle with backcourt injuries.

There aren't a ton of big names on this Cleveland roster, but the Cavs have been competing with every team so far this season.

Brooklyn Blasts Cavs in Cleveland

The Cavaliers have been a great defensive team this season, but it's not going to be easy for anyone to stop Brooklyn. Cleveland will continue to play hard on the defensive end, but the Nets will just create so many mismatches.

Irving, Durant, and Harden will be out to show the league that this trio can indeed play together, and things will go smoothly early. The Nets will also receive a boost as Irving not only returns to the lineup but also returns to Cleveland.

Brooklyn is set to go on a big run, and it will begin on Wednesday night. Bet the Brooklyn Nets -9.5 over the Cleveland Cavaliers in this Eastern Conference showdown.
