Boston Red Sox at New York Yankees Betting Preview

MLB Previews

The Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees are set to meet up on Sunday Night Baseball to resume the best rivalry in baseball. This rivalry has been lopsided so far this season, but with the Red Sox winning seven of the first eight games.

Boston comes into Sunday night with a record of 56-37, and they remain one of the best teams in the American League. The Red Sox hold a slim 1.5 game lead in the tough American League East, but they have work to do in the second half.

New York is just 47-44 on the year, and they remain eight games out of first place in the AL East. There is enough talent on this roster to make a run in the second half, but it has to come in a hurry.

The New York Yankees are -120 in this matchup with the Boston Red Sox.

Boston Bats Doing Damage

The Boston Red Sox have scored 469 total runs this season, which is the third-highest total in baseball. Boston has gotten off to a slow start since the All-Star Break, but this team can get hot in a hurry.

Rafael Devers leads this team with 22 home runs and 72 RBIs this season, and he continues to be impressive at the plate. Xander Bogaerts sets the table for Boston with a .318 batting average this season.

Martin Perez has gone 7-5 with a 4.04 ERA for the Red Sox in 2021, and he is set to take the mound on Sunday night. There are still some question marks with the Boston pitching staff, but they have been good enough to take a lead in the AL East.

Yankees Pitching Leading the Way

The Yankees were supposed to be a great offensive team in 2021, but that has not been the case. With the lack of offense, it has been the pitching staff that has picked up the slack over the last 10 games.

Jameson Taillon will start for New York on Sunday night, and he is a key pitcher for this team. Taillon has gone just 4-4 with a 4.90 ERA, but he has the talent to pitch much better in the second half.

Aaron Judge leads the Yankees with a .282 batting average to go along with 21 home runs and 47 RBIs. New York still has some sluggers in a slump, but that can change at any time.

Yankees Pick Up Another Win

Boston has clearly had the Yankees number so far this season, but New York was able to turn things around a bit on Saturday. Now that the Yankees have some momentum look for that to carry over into the matchup on Sunday Night Baseball.

The Red Sox have been a great offensive team this season, but Boston has not been putting up a ton of runs in this series. Boston will also have a disadvantage on the mound on Sunday night, and that will make things harder.

The Yankees still have a long ways to go, but picking up a second straight win over Boston could get them going in the right direction. Bet the New York Yankees -120 as they pick up a second straight win over the Boston Red Sox.
