Boston Bruins at New York Rangers Betting Preview

NHL Previews

Two longtime NHL rivals in the New York Rangers and Boston Bruins battle it out in a tale of two cities.

The New York Rangers host the Boston Bruins on Friday night in a battle of longtime rivals. The Bruins and Rangers were both “Original Six” NHL teams, and there is the potential for fireworks when these two teams take the same ice.

The New York Rangers have now lost two straight games, including a 3-2 decision to the Boston Bruins. New York sits near the bottom of the East Division standings with only 11 points, but there is still time to turn things around.

Boston has now won four straight games, and they look like a real threat to win the Stanley Cup this season. The Bruins come into Friday night with 20 total points, and they sit in first place in the East.

The Bruins are -170 in this matchup with the Rangers on Friday night.

Bruins Getting Plenty of Offense

The Boston Bruins are scoring nearly 3.1 goals per game this season, and they have been deadly on the power play this season. Boston has scored more than 31 percent of the time with the man advantage, and this team is loaded with weapons.

Brad Marchand leads the Bruins with eight goals and 16 total points and continues to really get this team going. Patrice Bergeron has chipped in with a team-high ten assists, and Boston also has some young talent that is starting to shine.

Boston is allowing just 2.17 goals per game in 2021, and they know how to protect their paint. Tuukka Rask and Juraslov Halak have combined to stop more than 92 percent of shot attempts, and these two netminders continue to frustrate opponents.

Rangers Need to Slow Things Down

The New York Rangers don’t have the same offensive depth as the Boston Bruins, and they will be looking to slow things down on Friday night. New York does have some players capable of finding the back of the net, but not at the same rate as Boston.

The Rangers are holding opponents to just 2.67 goals per game, and that could play a key role in this game. Goaltender Igor Shesterkin is stopping nearly 92 percent of shots faced, and he will likely be in net for this game.

Artemi Panarin has put up some eye-popping numbers so far for the Rangers, but he hasn’t gotten a ton of help. Panarin leads the team with five goals, 10 assists, and 15 total points and has emerged as one of the best in the league.

New York Wins at Home

Boston has been off to a great start this season, but the Rangers are also expected to be a Stanley Cup contender by the end of the season. New York nearly beat the Bruins in their last matchup, but they will find a way to get revenge in this game.

Don’t expect a ton of goals in this one, as the goaltenders will dominate the matchup. This time it will be Artemi Panarin and the Rangers that are able to get a late goal to earn the win.

Bet the New York Rangers over the Boston Bruins in NHL action on Friday night.
