AFC Championship Game Betting Preview
The top two seeds in the AFC are set to meet up on Sunday in the AFC Championship Game at Arrowhead Stadium. The defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs will host the red-hot Buffalo Bills in a game that should feature plenty of offense.
The Bills went 13-3 during the regular season to win the AFC East Division title. Buffalo has eliminated the Indianapolis Colts and Baltimore Ravens in the playoffs to advance to the conference title game.
Kansas City went 14-2 during the regular season to capture the AFC West title again. The Chiefs held on to beat the Cleveland Browns last weekend, but it did not come without some drama.
The Chiefs are 2.5-point favorites over the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship Game.
Bills Must Run the Ball
The Bills are averaging just 107 rushing yards per game, and quarterback Josh Allen has done a lot of that damage. Buffalo did not have a rushing attempt in the first quarter against Baltimore, but that has to change in this game.
Buffalo put up 31.3 points per game this season, but they can’t afford to turn this game into a shootout. The defense gave up 26 points to the Chiefs during a regular-season matchup, and that unit will need some help from the offense.
Allen threw for over 4,500 yards this season, and he has the ability to lead this team to a win in Kansas City. Wide receiver Stefon Diggs is one of the top receivers in the game, and he has scored a touchdown in both playoff wins up to this point.
Chiefs Hoping For Healthy Mahomes
Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes suffered a concussion in the divisional round, and he has yet to clear concussion protocol. It is believed that he will take the field on Sunday, but there is a chance that he is not at 100 percent.
Kansas City wants to win games on the offensive side of the ball, and they feature the top passing attack in the NFL. Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce are both capable of taking over a game with their play-making ability.
The Chiefs defense will have to play well regardless of the status of Mahomes. Kansas City held the Bills to just 17 points during the regular season, and getting pressure on Allen will be a huge key.
Kansas City Continues Super Bowl Defense
The Bills will give the Chiefs all they can handle in this game, but their lack of a rushing attack will hurt them in this one. Buffalo’s defense is going to get worn out against this high-powered offense, and that will allow the Chiefs to take control.
Kansas City has been in this position before, and it just always seems to find ways to make a big play to win in the playoffs. That offense is going to give the Bills defense some problems on Sunday, and the Chiefs will take control of this game in the second half.
Buffalo’s time is coming, but it will fall just short in this one. Bet the Kansas City Chiefs -2.5 over the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship Game.
