Many drivers have settled into their Cup Series rankings as the season closes out. However, Kurt Busch had a remarkable finish in last week’s race to flip the standings on its head.
He practically came out of nowhere and took the race by storm. He is definitely the driver to watch as he has the best momentum coming in.
Head to Head Matchup to Watch
Brothers Kyle Busch (124.291) and Kurt Busch (129.480) are going to be the names to watch here. Kurt had the recent victory from the last race over contender Kyle in the Cup Series. Kyle is arguably going to be the better driver here, but last week’s showing was true that anything could happen.

Drivers That Could Win
Denny Hamlin (136.401) could be a steal here, depending on how you look at it. He does not have a win this season and is due for one any day now. In his last three races here, he has two top 10 finishes with an average finish of 5.67.
Martin Truex Jr (133.781) is arguably looking better after every race. In his last three races of the season, he had a top-three and a top 10 finish. His recent win at Darlington showed that he still has something to prove.
Potential Winning Pick
Kyle Busch (124.291) has been great at one-mile-long tracks in recent years. The track they are driving on is a 1.058-mile-long speedway, which should bode well for his style of driving.
He recently made the jump from 10th place to third in Cup Series rankings. Looking at what he has done lately, he has four straight top-three finishes along with six top-five placings out of his last seven races.
Looking back to 2018, he has shown success at events like this too. He has compiled two wins on tracks similar to this, and he has the pole position when the race begins on Sunday. Overall, he has one of the best opportunities out of all the drivers to land a win here.
Top 5 Finish: Martin Truex Jr. (-118)
Truex has been knocking on the door at New Hampshire, but has yet to break through to the winner's circle. He’s finished in the Top 7 in each of the last six races at the track and had extended leads in four of those.
He’s also excelled on short, flat tracks like New Hampshire with wins earlier this year at Phoenix and Martinsville.
Following last week’s 3rd place finish at Atlanta, Truex will start in the front row next to Kyle Busch on Sunday. That should enable him to add to his current No. 3 ranking in laps led (647).
Ranked No. 4 in his week’s Dunkel Index, we’ll take Truex (-118) to stay in contention all day long and finish in the Top 5 this weekend.
