2021 Farmers Insurance Open Betting Preview
The 2021 Farmers Insurance Open will feature 23 players that rank in the top 50 in the world as they compete at Torrey Pines in La Jolla, Calif., beginning on Thursday. The world's second-ranked golfer, Jon Rahm, returns after sitting out of last weekend's The American Express due to a back issue.
- Dates: Jan 28–31, 2021
- Course: Torrey Pines South Course and others
- Watch On: GOLF, CBS
- Purse: $7.5 million
This event will be the first for a majority of the star-studded, world golf ranking outing. There will be 16 players within the top 30 for the 2020-21 FedExCup points standings, 23 top 50 world-ranked golfers, and a handful of other experienced golfers that have won here.
The first two rounds will be held at the North Course, and then the weekend rounds will be at Torrey Pines South. This is slightly different than in recent years, which had 54 holes played on the South Course instead.
Big hitters have been the golfers to watch on the rounds played on the longer and tougher South Course. The fairways are more difficult, as they are longer and more narrow than the North Course.
However, the North Course could provide some warming up for some golfers before they play two rounds of the South Course, as it is shorter and more open. It also features larger greens rather than the very small greens they will find on the South Course.

Golfers That Could Win
Cameron Davis (-15.833)
Davis put the pressure on his opponents with very solid play throughout The American Express, coming in third place with a score of 20-under. He was 14-under over the final two rounds, including a bogey-free 64 on Sunday.
He gained roughly eight strokes on his approach over his final 36 holes and was able to finish the week ranked fourth in the field with his iron play. Also, at Torrey Pines, he has made three straight cuts, so he will definitely be someone to watch.
Tony Finau (-11.174)
Finau did not play poorly at The American Express, but rather was outperformed by other golfers such as Si Woo Kim and Patrick Cantlay. They put up some impressive scores and happened to have a better day than he did.
Torrey Pines arguably fits Finau's game fairly well than his recent play at the Stadium Course at The American Express since he can utilize his strength and striking. Over the years, he has shown results at the Farmers with top 18 finishes in his last five outings, which also includes three top six places.
Potential Winning Pick
Jon Rahm (-4.110)
Rahm returns to play after some rest and arguably on a course that is suited for him. He has strong potential to take a victory here, especially after being a runner-up last year and a victory in this event in 2017.
