Week 4: Shark Attack In San Jose

A loss on Sunday to Phoenix without starters Jonathan Cheechoo and goalie Evgeni Nabokov has done little to dampen the start for San Jose.  Prior to the setback, the Sharks had won seven straight and remain perfect at home (9-0) while sitting at No. 4 in this week's Index.   Here are the complete Dunkel hockey ratings* for the week.

Week 3: Blackhawks Up

A disappointing start for Chicago saw coach Denis Savard fired on October 16 and replaced by former Avalanche coach Joel Quenneville.  The move has paid off immediate dividends as the Blackhawks have gone 4-1-2 under Quenneville's guidance and moved up to No. 6 in this week's Index.   Here are the complete Dunkel hockey ratings* for the week.

Week 2: Saber Rattling

Defense has been the key to Buffalo's fast start as the Sabres have allowed a league-low 1.62 goals per game.  Goalie Ryan Miller (5-0-1; 1.60 GAA) has made up for injuries to defensemen Craig Rivet and Henrik Tallinder with his stellar play as Buffalo's 6-0-2 mark has it ranked No. 2 in this week's Index.   Here are the complete Dunkel hockey ratings* for the week.

The Canadiens are starting their 100th season in fine fashion as they've won four straight while outscoring the opposition (19-8).  Montreal is off to its best start since the 1982-83 season thanks in large part to the goaltending of Carey Price (3-0-1, 1.92 GAA) and has the No. 1 spot in the first Index of the season.  Here are the complete Dunkel hockey ratings* for the week.
