NCAA Basketball Rankings
2006-07 Final: Gators Repeat As Champs
Florida became the first team in 15 years to repeat as national champions as the
Gators withstood a 25-point performance from Greg Oden to beat Ohio State
(84-75). While the Gators were the seventh team in history to win
back-to-back championships, they were the first to do it with the same starting
five (Joakim Noah, Al Horford, Taurean Green, Corey Brewer and Lee Humphrey).
And they are the only program to hold the basketball and football championships
in the same season after also beating the Buckeyes for the BCS title.

2006-07 Final: Gators Repeat As Champs
Florida became the first team in 15 years to repeat as national champions as the
Gators withstood a 25-point performance from Greg Oden to beat Ohio State
(84-75). While the Gators were the seventh team in history to win
back-to-back championships, they were the first to do it with the same starting
five (Joakim Noah, Al Horford, Taurean Green, Corey Brewer and Lee Humphrey).
And they are the only program to hold the basketball and football championships
in the same season after also beating the Buckeyes for the BCS title.

Week 18: Hoyas Rated No. 1 In Final Four
Georgetown pulled off an improbable comeback from 11 points down in the second
half to force an overtime with North Carolina. The Hoyas then proceeded to
score 14 straight points in the extra period to upset the Tar Heels (96-84) and
advance to their first Final Four since 1985. The win pushed Georgetown
just ahead of Florida, which remained in contention to repeat as champions for
the first time since Duke in 1991-92 by beating Oregon (85-77) on Sunday.

Week 17: Top Four Survive First Week
The top four rated teams going into the NCAA Tournament (Kansas, North Carolina,
Ohio State and Florida), which also are the top four seeds in the tourney, all
survived the first two rounds of action. The only team that was really
tested was Ohio State, which needed a last-minute comeback and overtime to get
past No. 37 Xavier. As a result, the Buckeyes have dropped to No. 5, while
Florida and Georgetown both moved up. The highest-rated team no longer in
the tourney is Louisville, which finishes its season at No. 7. Here are the complete rankings* for the week.

Week 16: Kansas Enters NCAAs No. 1
Kansas got a scare from Kevin Durant and Texas in the Big 12 final, but overcame
a 22-point deficit to beat the Longhorns 88-84 in overtime on Sunday. The
win keeps Kansas No. 1 in the Index for the fourth straight week and gives the
Jayhawks the highest rating heading into the NCAA Tournament. The
lowest-rated team to make the Tournament is Jackson State (No. 272), which won
the SWAC Tournament and will face Florida in the first round. The
highest-rated team not to make the tournament is Syracuse, which finished
